Europe 2008- Groningen

The second day after touching down, we went to a nearby city call Groningen. It is the capital city of the province of Groningen in the Netherlands and was recommended to us as a quiet and peaceful university town.

A bit of background knowledge...

The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) is the highest church tower in the city of Groningen, The Netherlands. The tower is located at the north-western corner of the Grote Markt (Main Square), is part of the Martinikerk (Martini Church). The citizens of Groningen call their tower d'Olle Grieze, meaning the old grey one in the local dialect. It is considered one of the main tourist attractions of Groningen and offers a great view over the city and surrounding area.

The best thing about Groningen is that all the famous attractions are concentrated at one location. So this make it easy for us. We just need to see the tower, the Martini Tower and the Herestraat, the main shopping street and we are more or less done with Groningen.

Groningen is probably my third favourite city of all times. The reason why I liked Groningen so much is because the food there is great. FYI,It is famous for the food. Barcelona is in this area too. I will blog about it soon. One of the things I will miss is the food and wine over there. Yum yum. Our fav - Kibbeling with Joppiesaus!

Next entry will be on Barcelona! Adios!

Europe 2008 -Amsterdam

Since I am having a little bit of jet lag now, I shall attempt to write a short entry on our first stop Amsterdam,Holland.

There is really nothing much in Amsterdam except for us to transit to Spain. However, I liked the weather when I first stepped foot outside of the train. It was freaking cold when we were there.A first taste of winter I reckon?

We took the map of Amsterdam city and went around exploring this city eagerly, like children going around the chocolate factory looking for their favourite favours.

Nothing interesting to add on. The following day, we went to a nearby town called Groningen to meet Mommy from Holland. Stay tune!

Europe 2008

Hi all, I am back from Europe after 10 days of fun, food and wine. The damages are probably a big hole in the pocket, dry skin, sore feet from all the walking, and according to ann and patsy: high blood pressure and liver failure.

The next few posts will most likely be about this Europe trip. I am crossing my fingers that it will not bore you to death. There won't be much writing though as I find wordy travel logs very tiring to read, unless of course it is interesting, which I doubt my own capability to achieve that. Pictures(selectively) will be uploaded in batches definitely. The first week's pictures you will probably see very little of me in them, as I am most of the time taking photos for ann. Since there were only two of us initially, if you see pictures of ann in the pictures, you will know where I am(behind the camera of course!).

Oh ya, if you do not know who ann is, do not worry. She has not been mentioned here before until now. A cousin of mine who wishes to tour Europe and who, like me,brought us through an unforgettable journey across Holland,Amsterdam,Croningen and Spain,Barcelona.

I need some time to organise my photos. Hence, I will blog more another day. Ciao!

My parents were away in Japan for the past few days. I am home alone with brother.Kind of not use having no one in the house when I am back home. But well, looking forward to welcoming them.

Whatever you like to call it.Mid Autumn festival or even Mooncake Festival.

When I was really really young, I used to buy those battery operated lanterns. Because it is too bright during the day, me and my brother would arrange to wake up during the middle of the night to just play with the lanterns. Walking around the house in the dark with the lantern on seems so much fun. Some years I would cry because I failed to wake up and miss the night of fun.
When I was slightly older, I liked to go to the playground with my friends to play with candles. Each of us will have one big box of candles and we will just find one spot to light them up and form different shapes and letters. Seeing them melt into wax is such a joyous act to us at that time.

When I get even older, sometimes I would arrange with some friends to go to the park to see people play with candles and carry lanterns.I think I spend two years of mid autumn festival at godmom's house where the group of us have so much fun over the lantern competition and stuffs like that.

Today is mid autumn again.
Don't seem to have the mood this year round.

It has been a few weeks into my new job.All right, maybe I will be enthusiastic for the initial stage. I hope I will have the passion to continue burning the fire.

Yea, I am so looking forward to pursuing it.No more pondering..Work has made me a healthier person, as pal had mentioned.I am working weekend.I sleep early and wake up early. When I am on off, I play harder. That's life I suppose...

It is 9 Aug finally. Happy Birthday Singapore!

Finally I get to rest today and tomorrow. I feel so tired today when I woke up.Well, I met up with my big family. We had dinner at Nogawa, somewhere in sentosa golf club.rumored to be excellent by my uncle.Indeed, it was quite good. There you go, the legendary sashimi and sea urchin.

Had a relaxing day and I think all of us enjoyed it too, less the rain which pelted down at the end.Sentosa has definitely changed a lot.A lot of activities and shops have since been set up. It is worth a day to go down and check it out..

Hi all, I am still here. All right let's talk about something more light hearted. I am doing some voluntary teaching every Sunday morning. Had a great time with the kids.

It feels good to go and help out. While I have no obligation in going, because I am not even in the club which organises it, you find a lot of like-minded people who just want to reach out for the kids and do something for them. I almost always forget my worries when I am there, looking at the innocent children, one ponders why can't adults be the same? The happiest time in my life might just be my childhood for all you know.Innocence and ignorance. They are gifts from God aren't they? I think this is a good way to cast away your worries. Find some young kids and play with them or observe them the next time you are down or feeling sad. I think you will find peace within them.

Oh well, exams are coming and yet my engine seems to be laggy.

I have some thoughts about certain things, but I am not going to share them here because I am feeling vague about it too. Maybe when I have a more concrete idea of it..
